The best way to master a subject is to teach it.
Becoming an instructor significantly expands flight knowledge and proficiency. Being a CFI provides the opportunity to build valuable flight time, gain experience, and increase safety awareness; all while being paid to fly.
Becoming a Certified Flight Instructor is a great first step to help prepare you for further advancements and get ATP requirements for airlines. Many students who earn a CFI rating are hired as instructors here at Airmax Aviation Flight School. The CFI course is designed to take a commercial pilot certificate holder through the completion of the Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) rating. A CFI certificate is required to teach other pilot certificate applicants, conduct flight reviews, aircraft proficiency, or insurance checkouts.
The course consists of about 30 hours of ground school and 15 hours of flight training. CFI training is about being able to clearly teach aviation concepts, both on the ground and in flight. This course is not about piloting skills, its about mastering the art of flying. The applicant will have to spend a lot of time self studying and practice teaching other students while the instructor is supervising. When it is time for the check-ride the applicant will have all “lesson plans” prepared necessary to qualify for the test.
This program is designed to take as little as 21 days. (FAA Written Tests are required FOI/CFIA)
